Other technical specializations

During the past decade, we developed additional and complementary specializations and technical skills:

– Cathodic protection
– Fluorescence material analysis
– Base metal identification
– Technical support

Cathodic protection

As part of its customer support, the group has developed, since 2020, a periodic inspection activity for land or sea installations equipped with cathodic protection. In addition, COMEP offers pre-project studies with the support of an expert (level 4 according to standard EN ISO 15 257:2017).

X-ray fluorescence material analysis:

In 2022 the group specializes in identification of materials by in situ XRF analysis:

The identification of the presence of lead in the paints of old homes, as commonly practiced to meet regulatory obligations, is carried out using portable devices that utilize “X-ray fluorescence”.

Widely used in paints in the past, lead in old homes has become a public health problem in France. Most buildings built before 1949 must be tested for the presence of lead in paint because of lead poisoning risks.

Construction workers may inhale lead paint dust during repair work.

Positive Material Identification (PMI) is essential to verify that the materials supplied comply with their specifications; This testing method ensures that the chemical composition of metal parts has the appropriate ratio of key elements.
